Essay of Technology

For a start is necessary to consider the vital place that technology have in our time, we use technology everyday for all kind of stuff, for example the personal computer is now a part of routine, practically everyone use the computer everyday for check the email, chat, surf the web, do homework, play, etc. Obviously that influence also reflect in knowledge in general, by that I mean that technology is a tool that practically all kind of knowledge use, especially math, because allow to solve complex exercise in seconds.

I have studied several careers, and in everyone we make a intense use of technology, I studied 2 kind of engineering and I’ve used computers for solve a lot of problems, for different classes, when I enter psychology I think that we never gonna used a computer in classes, but I was very wrong, in statistics we use it, all the time, for solve and calculate correlations between different psychological variables, so that just probe me that technology is everywhere. But even when technology is used everywhere, in all kinds of works and knowledge so diverse like biology, anthropology or math, we have a strange and bizarre, problem, grownups in general don’t like technology is a normal thing to see a grownup shouting to a computer because the computer doesn’t work, or his cell phone doesn’t call, or the microwave doesn’t get on, so that’s a huge problem that we need to face, for example here in psychology we have a lot of problems, because a lot of teacher doesn’t know how to use new technologies and that cause that we have delays in receiving our grades or confusion with the emails for coordination of different works, so we need to work on that.

So my conclusion would be that we need to assume that technology is already here and we need to accept that, and learn how to make a profit about it, a lot of people make resistance to technology, I think that’s stupid use it doesn’t mean we have to move away of people, we need to take advantage of technology, embrace it, so we can enjoy all the benefits.

Art

I think Art is important because, we need a way to express ourselves, and art specific painting is an excellent way to do it, when we are little the teachers always encourage us for painting, because it enhance our coordination, and also because is relaxing and we can drag our thoughts into reality, even certain thoughts we don’t want to express, for that reason, psychologist, sometimes use the draws of little boys and even grow up people for make a better analyze. I always loved art, but in my own way, so I really enjoy looking art in a museum or just internet, and I loved art even when is from a recognize artist or just an unknown guy with just a website.

I have to admit that most of modern art I just hate it, specially the abstract art, the most of it, because many of times I think “artist” just take advantage of this, and only make lines with no sense, and hoping that they can sell it like art, for that reason I preferred the old way like the Renaissance art I think is amazing. Even when I don’t like abstract art, I like a lot the graffiti, and I think is art, maybe not when they just sign their name in a wall, but when the make draw with social critiques I think is art, for example Banky, is a very famous graffiti artist, he make art all around the world with really strong critiques for the system. One of his advantage and what makes him a legend is that he is unknown; no one knows what he looks like.

One of my favourite artist would be Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898 - 1972, he is an amazing artist, he make draws of impossible worlds and figures, a lot of mathematicians are interested in his work, he love to play with the limits of reality, and trick the observer.

Alzheimer

The new that I choose it’s about Alzheimer, and how in England, a new law allowed to give some really effective pills for sick people to a to good price, much more cheapier, this medicine make people with Alzheimer to remember a lot more, but in the new they make emphasis in the characteristic of the medicament, because don’t extend the time of life of the patient just cover the symptom, so even when people can remember things a lot better and for a long time, they die.

I choose this new because I think it’s really important in a psychological way, because the thing that matter is that the quality of life of this people, even when the die at the same time that people who can’t take the medicine, it’s different because their families and important people of their lifes are happier even themselves, because they can remember their name, and their own name and things so minuscule like how to do some tea, can change their life.

Now, the next step is to make this medicine free and, with luck send it all over the world for all the people who are suffering this terrible disease.

Movies

Today I’m going to talk about movies; I have seen The godfather and Psicosis, both of them, just great, excellent, the story and the acting, images, music, perfect.

I don’t so really often to the cinema, because I live in Curicó, and there we don’t have a real cinema, for a lot of years, like 4 years ago, a cinema arrived to Curicó, so it’s something very new there, the last time I go, was here in Santiago, like a month ago, with a friend I watch Inception an excellent movie by the way, I don’t rent a movie since 2005, because they are too expensive.
One of my favorite films is The dark side of the heart, is an Argentinean movie, is just great, is about a young poet living in Buenos Aires, and the hole movie he search for the one (women) , but the one who can fly (literally), I seen it a lot of times like 4, I don’t think the movie has a weak point, is amazing, has a lot of interesting stuff for example the presence of the death, in the movie the death is a woman, who follow the poet and appears anytime bothering the main character.

And of course I recommend it, is really amusing, it absolutely worth it, I rate it like a must see. One of the things I like the most, is that the movie use just a little of visual effects, but the story and actors are so great that, doesn’t matters. I think Chilean movies have to learn about it.

Santiago

I don’t know Santiago very well, because even when all my family is from Santiago and I was born here, I only live just a year in Santiago and then my family moved away to Curicó, and now life just take back to the place y born. Now it’s my third year in Santiago, I don’t know what places are the greatest for a tourist, and I think my knowledge of Santiago is very limited, but, I think that Santiago has so many things for see and do, is an amazing city, but sometimes it’s really hard to know.

I think a tourist need to see Patronato because is a extrange place where many different kind of people are forced to live side to side, and make a weird and freak place for go, but it’s great all the stuff you can see, like coreans market or Chinese store or brasilean restaurant.

- Other place for visit is “Paseo Ahumada” such a weird place like patronato but much more beautiful I think because it has an old arquitechture, Paseo Ahumada have all kind of stores, and also a lot of spectacle in the streets like actors, or musician-

- Santa Lucia is another great place to be, has a great place for buy crafts and a hill very important, with wonderful things for enjoy.

- There a lot of park in Santiago, one of them is the Forestal park, is very nice, and have a lot of things for enjoy like jugglers, actors, artist, etc.

-The “Liguria” is a restaurant with a lot of history and any tourist would love to go, because is a ver y tipical place, and many nights have lived music, and their walls are literally covert in memories of this country.

Music

For me, music is a vital part of my life, I can’t imagine my life without music, when I travel one of the things that I more miss is my music, is very useful for think in something else, for escape reality, it makes me feel free.

I listen a lot of music of all kind, but I preferred rock and also grunge, they are my favourite, because of the meaning of the lyrics, the voice, and the power of the guitar. I don’t really dislike any kind of music except maybe reaggeton (just for listening because for dancing is fine) and death metal because I hate the guttural voice.

My favourite singer is Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, because his voice is perfect at least for me, because of his strength and quality is unique, and he always has sang great even when he was over the effect of drugs or sick.

I have been to 4 concerts and I have seen a lot of live music, and I love it every second, listen to live music, can’t compare to listen recorded music, the feeling of being between thousands of people singing, and listen to your favourite musicians just a few meter of you it’s unforgettable, sadly I can’t never see Layne Staley because he die of a overdose a few year ago.

I live in Curicò and there they are just a few radio stations and they are usually boring so I listen a lot more my own collection of music, I was made this collection by downloading music of the internet, or with the help of friends who also love music and borrow me their collection, When I really love a band I always try to buy their original cd, but only if I can, because in Chile music is very expensive.

I play just a bit of guitar and I can’t read music but, make music/noise with the guitar makes me happy (:

Finally I think music is so important for people because give the opportunity of escape reality and dream, think, and fly in the middle of reality, it’s a great way to “travel” without drugs.

I really want to go to Italy, because I heard so many histories about it, and how fascinating can be, it’s a great country with a lot of history and marvelous places to see. Italy is famous for so many things, like the production of some of the most perfect car in the entire world like Lamborghini or Ferrari, Italy is also famous for the food, spaghetti, lasagna and raviolis are all from there. Italy is very important in the world of art also so, if you go there there’s plenty of wonderful paintings and sculptures, and the music of course, a lot of the best places for watch and listen Opera are in Italy.

But in all Italy the place that always attract mi attention is la Toscana, it’s the country of Italy, it’s a very peaceful place, far away from the big cities, and it look wonderful, I want to go there to travel, work, study or live, I really don’t care, for me it seems like one of the better places in the world, so I hope I can go there and see if it’s truly nice and great like a lot of people, movies and book said.
